The Death of the Constitution: A Root Cause Analysis
Posted: 7 months ago - Sep 11, 2025What if the 17th Amendment quietly dismantled the Republic?
The Constitution was built to represent the States as sovereign entities. The Senate was their voice, not the peopleâs. But in 1913, the 17th Amendment shifted power away from the States, turning the Senate into a second House.
This change turned a republican form of Government, into a pure democracy. Republican form requires that those being governed have a voice. The Constitution was created to "Unite the States", and create laws so as to provide a justice system whenever there was a conflict to avoid States going to war with each other. So it isn't any wonder the congress turned to social issues, both to get elected, and to change the perception of jurisdiction, from governing the interaction of states, to governing individuals.
The result? Centralized power, weakened federalism, and a Republic that no longer functions as designed.
What do you think, can a Republic survive without its structural safeguards? And did the 17th Amendment practically end the Constitutional Government?
